Ahmed Musa to captain Eagles to Victory

For the first time in his Nigeria career, forward Ahmed Musa is expected to captain the Super Eagles when they face South Africa in a friendly match on Sunday afternoon.

The CSKA Moscow has been left with the big task after captain Vincent Enyeama left the team’s camp following a back injury he sustained in Wednesday’s friendly against Uganda in Uyo.

This leaves Musa, the player with the highest number of caps remaining in camp, to lead the team.

The official Twitter account of the Super Eagles confirmed on Sunday morning that coach Daniel Amokachi has handed the 22-year-old the armband for the game against Bafana.

“Ahmed Musa will lead the Eagles out against @BafanaBafana in today's international friendly at the Mbombela Stadium,” it announced.

Musa has won 42 caps and scored nine goals for Nigeria since making his debut in 2011. He scored a brace at the World Cup in a 3-2 loss to Argentina.

He also won the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations title with the Super Eagles.
